Our specialty isn't only the traditional "rebuild qi and blood." We work to understand — and gently support — the structural changes a woman's body goes through after birth, across three connected layers.

After birth the body doesn't automatically return the pelvis to its pre-pregnancy state. Pelvic widening and tilt, and a changed lumbosacral angle, can irritate the sciatic and lower-back nerves. Delivery removes the weight of baby, placenta and fluid almost at once, so the internal support system that was stretched for months suddenly rebalances. When can I start after giving birth?

This is the most common question we hear — and the honest answer is: once your OB has cleared you. As a general guide that's often around 6 weeks after a C-section and a little earlier after an uncomplicated vaginal birth, but every recovery is different, so we follow your provider's clearance first.

Why do I have back, sacral or leg pain — or legs that won't get comfortable at night?

After birth the pelvis doesn't always settle back on its own. Pelvic widening and tilt and a changed lumbosacral angle can affect the lower-back and sciatic nerves, which may show up as back or sacral pain, radiating leg pain, or night cramps. Our gentle techniques work with that alignment to help ease the discomfort. Persistent or severe pain should also be checked by your doctor.

Leakage is often attributed to the pelvic-floor muscles, and that's part of it — but the lumbosacral angle and nerve pathways may also play a role, which is why we look at the whole structure. Gentle work helps, and we'd encourage you to also see your OB or a pelvic-floor specialist for a full assessment.

Yes — easing post-birth swelling and fluid buildup is a common reason mothers come in, and gentle bodywork can support the body's natural fluid return.

7. How is this different from postpartum massage or lymphatic drainage?

Drainage mainly targets swelling and fluid. Our approach is broader and more systematic — we also consider the pelvis, sacrum and lower-back structure, release long-loaded ligaments and soft tissue, and combine that with TCM care for qi and blood. Many mothers want both, and we bring them together.
